Dhanwanthari follow the preparation of herbal medicines according
to GMP from raw material to finished product . GMP stands for
“ Good Manufacturing Practices” and is an international
certification for maintaining Quality manufacturing standards.
The
Good Manufacturing Practices ensure that raw materials used
in the manufacture of drugs are authentic, of prescribed quality
and are free from contamination.
Raw materials are tracked to the origin and checked for morphological
and taxonomical characters so that one particular drug is not
assigned to more than one plant.
Since the quality of medicinal plants depends on the geographical
origin, time and stage of growth when collection has been done,
the regular labour pool responsible for collection of herbals
for Dhanwanthari is adequately trained so that they pay attention
to the stage of maturity before plucking, that herbs are dried
properly and also stored in suitable conditions
The manufacturing process follows standard and well documented
processes. Adequate quality control measures are adopted to
make sure that the manufactured drug which is released for sale
is of acceptable quality.
The factory premises is sufficiently spacious and have adequate
space to house the raw material stores, manufacturing process
areas, quality control sections, finished good stores, rejected
product store and office areas.The manufacturing areas are suitably
situated so as to avoid contamination from sewages , drain,
and other unwanted elements like fumes, dust or smoke.
The
manufacturing areas are setup in such a way to ensure that
? There is sufficient provision of light and ventilation
? The adjacent processes are compatible
? Damage from dampness is prevented
? Entry of insects and rodents are prevented
? Microbiological contamination is prevented
? Pure and potable water is available.
? Proper drainage system exists
? Waste matter is disposed after necessary treatments
? Provision to properly clean, wash and dry containers
? Different types of raw materials are stored in appropriate
manner
? Raw material store can take care of materials from different
sources such as metallic, mineral and animal sources.
? Raw materials like fresh &, dry Herbs or plant parts,
excipients,volatile oils/perfumes & flavours.etc are stored
in adequate containers.
? Raw material containers are labeled to identify the supply
batches with lot no, date of receipt etc:.
? All raw materials are sampled and tested by inhouse quality
control exports for the different batches.
? Any rejected material is kept in different specified locations.
Raw materials are issued on first in first out basis and proper
records are kept regarding receipts and testing..
The finished goods are transferred from the production area
to the final finished good stores only after the QC checks on
the correctness of packaging, labeling and other required tests
as per procedures. The storing environments of the various types
of the products like temperature etc: are given immense care.
